The sixties, sex drugs and rock’n’roll, Woodstock, and Jimi Hendrix
defined an era in our pop culture. Jimi was a musical pioneer, a man before his
time, a musician whose musical genre had yet to be defined. He served his
musical apprenticeship playing sessions with the likes of the Islay Brothers,
Ike and Tina Turner, King Curtis, James Brown, Solomon Burke, Little Richard,
and Jackie Wilson. In 1966, Chase Chandler invited him to England to form his
own band. The Jimi Hendrix Experience with Noel Reading and Mitch Mitchell had
outstanding success with their first three albums: “Are You Experienced”;
“Axis: Bold as Love”; and “Electric Ladyland”. After Woodstock in 1969 Jimi had
formed a new band called “The Band of Gypsies”, releasing his last album “Cry
of Love” in May 1970. The 18th of September 1970 saw the tragic end of Jimi
Hendrix, due to a drugs overdose.
